3D Printing Services
3D Printed Tools and Printer Access.
Unique Tools, Low Cost
3D printing can be used to generate useful and customized scientific tools at a low cost. We offer printing of items of your interest via an hourly rate, as well as a series of pre-designed tools at flat rates.

FDM (Filament) Printing
Our Prusa MK4S printer can print a range of filament materials for construction of medium-resolution tools with good physical properties and biological compatibility.
Cost: $10/hr, including time to support and slice the printer file plus any required post-processing. Printing cost includes filament unless a special filament is reuqired.

Resin Printing
Our Mars5 Ultra resin printer can produce a range of high-resolution objects. While the resolution of this method is much higher than FDM, the prints are not as strong, and are not biocompatible.
Cost: $20/hr, including time to support and slice the printer file and post-processing. Printing cost includes resin unless a special resin is required.

Mouse Scruffers
These devices allow you to safely contain a mouse in a manner which allows you to easily scruff the skin on the mouses back for subcutaneous injections, tail-vein injections, or other treatments. Two sizes available (20-40 g and 25-45 g). Customizable with lab name.
Cost: $10 each, or 2 for $15

Microchambers
These biocompatable and microscope compatible chambers are ideal for miniaturizing experiments and for imaging multiple experimental conditions in a single microscopy experiment.
See our paper for available designs and more information.
A full list of available designs can be found on the Heit Lab wiki.
Cost: $5 each. You must complete final assembly. Minimal order of 6 chambers.

Custom Gel Combs
Custom combs for DNA and protein gels. Combs for any size gel, with any number of wells, can be designed and printed.
Cost (existing designs): $5 each
Cost (new designs): $15 for the first comb, $5 for additional combs.

Tube Rotator
A simple and small tube rotator that can be easily assembled and will fit even the smallest of incubators.
Price only includes the cost of the 3D printed parts. You will need to purchase the additional components and complete assembly yourself. A full list of materials and assembly instructions can be found on our Thingiverse page.
Cost: $25 (3D printed components only)

Isoflurane Filter Holder
Holds a standard filter for removing isoflurane during animal procedures. Customizable with lab name.
Cost: $25. Printing cost includes filament unless a special material is required.

18mm Coverslip Washer/Autoclave Case
Printed in high-temperature resin, this holder can be used to wash and autoclave over a hundred 18 mm (round or square) coverslips. Includes metal canister.
Cost: $50. Printing cost includes resin and processing.

Tube Rack for Shaker Table
Fits standard hole spacing on most shaker tables. Holds 5 tubes
Cost: $15 each, or 2 for $25
